A UE financia uma ampla gama de projetos e programas que abrangem áreas diversas desde desenvolvimento regional e urbano, emprego e inclusão social, agricultura e desenvolvimento rural, as políticas marítimas e das pescas, investigação e inovação e a ajuda humanitária.
Os Programas de Financiamento são instrumentos que promovem a implementação de uma política específica da UE ou de âmbito nacional. Como regra geral, para usufruto das possibilidades de financiamento no âmbito dos vários programas ou instrumentos, é necessário elaborar uma proposta para aprovação após anúncio do concurso, submetida quer por uma organização / indivíduo ou em conjunto com outras organizações, dependendo dos termos e condições do programa.
